What Do You Believe?

The Necessity of Intentional, Inclusive, and Intergenerational Community

Increasingly concerned about the impact of institutional care on elders, including the industry’s failure to provide humane solutions during the pandemic, we believe the most effective care intentionally groups residents with members of younger generations and deploys well-trained, well-paid care staff in an inter-dependent ecosystem of relationship and community. The future demands a shift in mindset that is required to create innovative models that embrace intergenerational opportunities. As silos continue to be broken down, the essence of senior living is being incorporated into the overall design of community at all scales. It is no longer acceptable to purposefully segregate older adults from the community, but to have choice and opportunity to be an active part in community through the engagement of active, purposeful, and meaningful living. The goal is to provide environments that encourage all individuals to maximize their abilities and positive outcomes. What do you believe? And how are you part of the solution for the future?

Panelist:

Jane M. Rohde: AIA, FIIDA, ASID, ACHA, CHID, LEED AP BD+C, GGA – EB, GGF Founder/Principal, JSR Associates, Inc. Founder/President, Live Together, Inc.
